About Classic Steel Bicycles
Not too long ago, I found myself wondering what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life. The enthusiasm I had for my previous careers had faded — what next?
“Follow your passion and the money will come,” some say. (Others say that’s terrible advice, but we all choose what we want to believe.) But what was my passion? I have so many interests — how could I choose just one?
Then, in a blinding flash of the obvious, it came to me: Riding bicycles has been a big part of my life since I was 10 years old. And I had gone from steel to carbon and back to steel, and had just acquired an old Raleigh just in case I made it to l’Eroica. The Facebook group Steel is Real! was one of my favorites. And what better way to balance the N+1 vs. D-1 equation? (“Don’t worry dear, I’m going to sell it!”) Classic steel bikes it is!
My goal is to pair old bikes with new owners at a fair price, provide excellent value and customer service, and to enjoy what I do. If the money does come, that will be a bonus.
